NCCC Local Chapters

Local National Cervical Cancer Coalition (NCCC) Chapters
The growth of the NCCC is an indication of the frustration shared throughout the country by cervical cancer survivors and family, caregivers and those who deal with cervical cancer and HPV issues on a day-to-day basis. Many are still battling cervical cancer and related issues while volunteering the small amount of energy left over after treatments and caring for family, to educate others and raise awareness about cervical cancer and HPV.
It will take groups of leaders and workers joining together in every state to carry out NCCC's mission and goals.
NCCC is just beginning the process of expansion. Interested in starting an NCCC Chapter in your area? NCCC Chapters are born out of a desire that no other woman, family member or friend should feel alone while battling cervical cancer and HPV. If you are interested in starting a NCCC chapter in your area, please contact:
Ms. Sarina Araujo at (818) 909-3849.
Existing NCCC chapters need volunteers to increase their effectiveness in educational efforts, awareness raising as well as fund-raising campaigns. Please feel free to contact any of the chapter leaders to offer help and support.

NCCC Chapter Activities
Local chapters of the National Cervical Cancer Coalition are established to demonstrate a local presence for the community. Thousands of women across the US are living with a history of surviving cervical cancer. These women as well as their families, caregivers and women currently undergoing cervical cancer treatment often find it part of the healing process to support and educate others about the disease. This can mean offering monthly meetings for discussion, inviting knowledgeable speakers from the area to speak on the issues of cervical cancer and cancer survivorship, attending health care conferences, educating local physicians and community health centers about women's need for the highest quality care and even delving into political advocacy, so that financial access to screening and treatment is maintained.
Sample Activities of NCCC Volunteers:
CA – NCCC moderated an NCCC chapter discussion on cervical cancer, HPV, screening, evaluation and treatment for an interested group of community members in Oakland, California. It was a lively discussion that included imported chocolates, and the auction of a lovely bottle of merlot donated by a local winery.
NCCC and Chapter members attended the Los Angeles County Regional Cancer Detection Partnership meeting in recognition of January as Cervical Health Awareness Month.
NCCC attended the Annual Congress of the Oncology Nursing Society.
Oakland, CA – An NCCC conference that included Yoga classes, baked goods, lunch and education discussions on cervical cancer issues.
